We are lucky that the accounts of the Pipe Green Trust have survived since it was formed in 1793 and they are now safely kept at Stafford record Office. Whilst account books may not sound very interesting, they do give us a picture of what work was being done on the Green, who was doing it and how much they were getting paid. The accounts also list who was grazing cattle (or horses) on an annual basis, which, not only helps us build up a picture of what was happening on the Green, but also who was living in Beacon Street at that time. Later on, in the mid 1900s, the minutes of the AGMs are also recorded, which give us an even more detailed understanding of how the Green was being managed and what the members were arguing about!
